(CNSNews.com) – “After years of fiscal and economic mismanagement, the president has offered perhaps his most irresponsible budget yet,” House Speaker John Boehner said on Tuesday, after President Obama released his $3.9 trillion election-year budget.

The fiscal year 2015 spending proposal raises taxes on the wealthy and spends more on preschool, infrastructure, and job training, the Associated Press reported. But as Boehner indicated, Republicans won’t accept it.

“American families looking for jobs and opportunity will find only more government in this plan,” Boehner said. “Spending too much, borrowing too much, and taxing too much, it would hurt our economy and cost jobs. And it offers no solutions to save the safety net and retirement security programs that are critical to millions of Americans but are also driving our fiscal imbalance.”

As CNSNews.com previously reported, the president, in his FY 2015 budget, has backed away from his earlier offer to trim entitlement spending.

Boehner said Obama’s vision for the nation’s future does not include a balanced budget — ever.

“After dramatically expanding entitlement programs, the president now believes our entirely predictable long-term debt crisis is the next president’s problem,” Boehner said.

“Despite signing last year’s bipartisan budget deal – and touting it as an accomplishment – the president now proposes violating that agreement with a spending surge. What’s more, he proposes raising even more taxes – not to reduce the deficit but to spend more taxpayer money.”

Boehner promised that in coming weeks, “Republicans will produce a responsible budget that balances, promotes opportunity, reforms our tax code, saves our critical safety net programs, and places a priority on creating jobs, not more government.“

Obama’s spending blueprint is expected to serve as an election-year platform for Democrats who want to close the “income gap.”
